Default Pulled at the Carnival - legal advice needed

The Notting Hill Carnival - not on my list of things to do this w/e , but when lots of maties called to say they were going, i ended up on the way up Harrow Rd looking to drop down Ladbroke Grove...i see a road block / pull zone & lots of cars hooking a sharp right ahead of it...but ive done nowt. so i carry on...get tshouted at to pull over.....this is LITERAALY how it went...

"take your helmet off!"
i do so
"Right, your eyes are dilated and you seem vague....<is this why i was pulled>WAHT6 AHVE YOU HAD ?"
Nothing. Im going to see some friends
"when was the last you took intoxicating liquor?"
about 5 yrs ago ! <satisying answer>
"right, i have reason to beleive you are under the influence...is there any reason you cant take a breath test?"
no...<bring it on methinks>
i pass sseing as i am teetotal of everything cept caffeine !
"Right, i am going to give you a ticket. your regplate is under the legal limit blah balh"
By this time i am getting peed off. I am surrounded by people being searched, the cars are being ripped apart in some cases. People are being pulled en masse. There is a car transporter almost full of confiscated cars. I am told by another officer i have committed fraud cos the bike is registered in Suffolk. So i tell him my mrs works at Scotland Yard and i am unhappy about all this. My reg plate is large for a sports bike i say.
He gets out the ruler and measures every letter & number.
When he tells me it will be £30 fine and no poiunts i calm down. But they are not helping themselves...
Inside the cordon, anything goes. Under agers are ****ed or stoned out of their trees all over. The bill dont care. They ytry and give directions but arent local so dk really.
The vibe after dark turns ugly. We get harrasssed by a group of sullen youths, some with pushcahirs !
Im glad to leave.
Monday, there wree 300 arrests and a full sclae riot went on for several hrs....could this be deathnell for NH Carnival ?

Legal point - the PCN says the make of bike is NINJA ! not Kawasaki. Can i get away with saying theyve done the form wrong...My mrs is going to make waves about the way i was treated at the Yard today. She runs the Intranet there...but siad i should have said she works for Directorate of Public Standards (i think) , the ones who examine any complaints against officers....

I do know for a fact that the PCN has to be correct in every way. See if your missus can verify this.

As for the nottinghill carnival. If i wanted to get stabbed, id get on a tram and go to Croydon!

That's a real shame the Police sound like they were being ar$eholes. I'm sure they had a difficult job to do at the w/e but from what you say no need to go about it like that.

Yes it sounds like your plate was illegal, just like mine & I have paid £30 before for a very illegal plate (made of paper) and was happy to do so as I was being a very naughty boy and got away with just that. So I guess you're lucky the penalty is not severe, just for you to decide whether you want anymore aggro from it or just pay up?
Your V5 will probably say Ninja as the model but obviously not the manufacturer.

It really is a shame that it would have been better to hang a right like everyone else than submit yourselve to Police scrutiny when you've not done a lot wrong

not good

check the size of your plate. think it only needs to read at a certain distance if it is reg b4 2002 or summat. after that it has to be a specific size and must display the manufacturors name and postcode.

WTF. he can ask you to attend a vehicle testing station but i think that has to be within 5 miles of the place you are stopped and within 7 days or summat

sounds like little man in a uniform syndrome!

also interesing to note in terms of exhausts - they have to be comparable to a similar machine... my tester takes the view that all bikes are comparable to a harley with slash cut pipes and as long as they are not stamped with "for race use only" or summat it should pass the mot (depending on the tester)
BUT the road traffic act will do you for causing noise polution...

best bet - go and speak to a friendly mot bod but beware of the discrepancies between the road traffic act, and what will pass an MOT....

I believe you can appeal as the PCN has got the details wrong. By claiming the manufacturer is a NINJA the police are fining you for an offence on a bike that a) you dont own b) doesn't exist.

Just because an exhaust passes an MOT, does not mean it meets the Construction and use reglulations, therefore you can still be knicked! Its an odd grey area now!
