A mate of mine is selling his W reg ZX6-R.
The thing is, he is not asking a lot of money for it (mates rates perhaps), but it has done 30 odd thousand miles and he has recently put in a new gearbox. Not that it was knackered, he just wanted it running smoother. I am just thinking would be a daft purchase? It's in nice condition and sounds very healthy. I just wonder that if I bought it I would never be able to shift it myself in the future. Oh, and it's bright green ![]() |

Green is the only colour for a Kawasaki.
The old G-J model ZX6R's were great sports tourers, I would advise you have a test ride on it though as this is the only way to know if it will suit you and your needs. |

Just concerned it will be a burden if I was to try and get shut of it. He has just got the bike all together and running, so I will have to have a blast round the block. Come to think of it, I am not sure my insurance covers that... He wants around 1300 quid for it. |

Are you fully comp, if so around 95% of the policies insure you to ride another bike but offer only third party cover. Check first though!

IIRC you dont just put another gearbox in one of those. It requires quite a lot of dismantling and putting back together so I hope your mate knows what he is doing???
Otherwise great bikes.I had a J1

My freind, and one of my dads freinds, and my uncle, have have several ZX6r's between them. Great bikes, bullet proof, very comfy (my dad rode all my uncles ZX6r's and was very impressed, even compared to when he had his GSXR600). I rode pillion on one, and found it comfy.
I say go for it, as long as you can be sure the gearbox is good |

I have a J2, and its awesome. I wouldn't worry about the high mileage if its been looked after, and it sounds like it has.
Take it for a ride, and remember to let the revs build up to properly enjoy it. What do you ride at the moment? |

Getting rid of mine cant get on with it but it is really good fun and amazing handling. Its just too small for me at 6'3. Going saturday (sorry if this is against forum rules) but would be happy to sell to forum member rather than p/x it (1800 no offers). It has grown on me as they rev like crazy but decided I want something lazier and more comfortable.
