Wanted: Cheap bike

Upon getting outside and on my bike this morning, I noticed some metal/plastic bits on the ground next to it. This was quite odd, as my housemate's bike normally sits there. I got off the bike and asked if he'd put it in the garage, but he said no. After a quick search, we determined that the bike had been half-inched.

So now he's got no bike, the insurance is going to take a while to process, and the police are "on the lookout" for it. He needs to get back on 2 wheels ASAP, as needs transport for work.

So! Has anyone got a cheap bike lying around? Probably looking at a very top-end of £1800, more likely to be in the £1600 range.
