Default I ride ...therefore I am.

The old man is back on the road again!!!

Just a week shy of three months since my highside...
The resulting injuries have healed (for the most part) and today I was able to ride again for the first time.

43.3 miles round trip I didn't want to do too much the first time.

The first ten miles were crap...missed a shift, stalled the bike at a stop...but after that I got OK.
Was also "fighting" some new leather pants as well. After 20 miles and one stop to ....adjust things... they began to be comfortable enough not to be distracting.

As I got into the sweeping bends I felt like I was up to to speed but looking at the speedo I was way off the mark and 10 mph slower than my usual pace on that section of road....so I decided just to take it easy and enjoy the ride.

As I turned to head back home I noticed dark clouds seemed to be gathering as they came across the top of "White Oak Mountain" (site of the "Old 97" train wreck) so I picked up the speed a bit.

By the time I was near home I was comfortable on the bike and riding at full speed again. Would have liked to have done another 50 mile loop to include some the mountain roads and tight turns but thought better of it and made it back home just before it started to rain.

All in all it was a great day!!!
Tis' good to be back among the riding...
Been the longest 3 months ever...
