When does a bike need an MOT?

Is it 2 years from the date of first registration.....

Or is it 3 years like it is with cars?

It should be 3 years, 2 years is when the warranty runs out does it not?

3 - and you should get a reminder from the DVLA.

You do? Didn't get one when my SV needed it's first one or when my car needed it's first. Also, if they can do this for the first MOT, why not for subsequent ones?

I didn't get one when my zed needed it's first MOT this year.

You kind of get a reminder as you need to tax it for the third year and need the MOT for that. Doesn't work quite as well with bikes as they usually have tax gaps all over the place for winter etc.

Never had a reminder for my SV.....

Three, same with all vehicles from new. Never had a reminder either, mind you not getting one can't be used as an excuse anyway.
