Default SV650 crash - Repairs in Edinburgh?

Hi all,

Long story short I crashed my bike in Hawick (near Scottish border) but am based in Edinburgh (~50 miles) and am having a hard time finding a mechanic who will even take a look at it. Anyone have any recommendations for Edinburgh bike mechanics? Any forumers up here?

The local bike mechanic in Hawick doesn't seem to want to know, it's been two weeks and I've called a couple of times but he hasn't been to inspect it. I've also tried Tolkien motorcycles in Edinburgh but he is mobile only and I have nowhere to keep the bike while it's in this state. I'll be googling others and ringing round today but thought this might be a good place to ask too.

Cheers (+sorry if wrong board)

I'd say badly, was a highside and it came down hard on the front end. The recovery guys couldn't decide if the frame was bent. Didn't take any photos unfortunately (was a bit shaken up at the time) but no mechanic has inspected it yet so none the wiser really. I've now got Saltire Suzuki (as they were linked here) to bring it to Edin and give me a quote or tell me it's not worth doing

was going to say saltire but if it was not to bad then i would have done the work. if the fronts bent and your going threw insurance then they will write it off. if your not going threw insurance and saltire replace with new parts you would be better off getting a new bike. try and get some photos and post them up. sometimes it's not as bad as it looks.

Let us know what the Saltire boys say about repair. It's hard to tell from your avatar, but if yours is Candy Napoleon Blue (YHJ) then I have a load of plastics in great nick, and a box full of road parts no longer needed for my track bike I could sell you (for the right price obviously!). I'm just outside Edinburgh, so should be easy enough to sort summat out.

MICK..

Ok I'll let you know what they say and try get photos. Only had TPFT so not an insurance job. Cool cheers Mick, it is Candy Napoleon Blue so if it's not a write-off that could be really useful

also meant to say, give us a shout if you want a hand, or someone to look it over etc. As Bibio says, once you get it cleaned up, stripped down and such, it's often not so bad. If the frame's straight and not missing any vital mounts/lugs etc , I reckon you can get pretty much anything back on the road for OK money with some patience (also an excuse to make some mods if you're that way inclined ).
