Dear Deidre,
Would it be wrong to send a scathing (yet honest) closure email to my (sacked) estate agent cc'ing other agents who have promised to "do better" or is that bordering on a bit too naughty? PS - I've took the house off the market, so I really couldn't care less about upsetting anyone, I don't need to sell it any more (though I realise I will likely need to in future) Heres the text anyway, for your reading pleasure (names omitted to protect the crappy): "XXXXXX, Some ten days later I still have not received the requested written termination of our agreement, which is disappointing though not wholly unsurprising. I assume it has been ignored rather than overlooked. Yesterday I removed the board from the front of the property myself, after having been assured it would be collected within 48 hours of last Friday, again ten days ago. I think that was a reasonable period. If you require it to be returned please contact me to arrange collection. If I do not hear from you I will assume you no longer need it and will dispose of it myself. In relation to your request to be considered when we do choose to remarket the property, we doubt XXXXX will be our chosen agent. It would be prudent of you not to contact us with a customer satisfaction survey, though I wonder if our voice would be heard. Please remove us from your mailing list. Ooger" |

I wouldn't CC it to an estate agent you are planning on using, doesn't show you in a good way.

It doesn't, but the whole experience highlights how most businesses change from nice to couldn't-care-less when its clear that all chances of making any money out of you disappear. Maybe its not for public consumption, but I think if I were the other agent I'd find it mildly amusing. |

be careful as emails hang around longer than you think, also have a nasty habit of being circulated to other people you may not have intended to send to. If you really feel that strongly write a letter to the head office and let them deal with it.

Do remember that in a moderately small town all the estate agents will meet up in the pub once a week... and talk about clients

Estate agents are on their ****, they'll do anything and peeing off homeowners is nothing to them. I sat in on a meeting of a large EA chain recently and they needed to sell 40 a week to break even, they're selling about 4 at the moment.
