I made myself a PVC Corset a while back, lovely... Laced up the back with Purple ribbon.
However sowing PVC is really not very easy, it kept sticking in the machine and was a real pain, because bad stitching shows up. However, the eyelets were even harder to fit and I had to reinforce the material quite a lot. I am not sure I fit in to it any more.

PVC is ok, got plent of it in the wardrobe, but rubber is far more kinky
Better for showing the off curves as it doesn't wrinkle like PVC...its just more expensive, but at least if you buy a size too small it stretches perfectly to your fit
