Alternative front ends?

I know theres been loads of stuff on using GSXR front suspension but my abilities dont stretch that far - anyone got experience of any other better set ups (right way up?) that would go straight in? cheers

curvy or pointy??? as far as i no an R6 front is ment 2 go in 2 the curvy with very little/no hassel.if a pointy it is you have a load of gsxr models fit.

A front end will require the same amount of work whether USB or RWU, all you need to do is swap the front end out completely and rewire the speedo with a GSXR setup. For ease stick with a front end all from the same model, start mix'n'matching and more work is required.

Thanks for the replies guys but I would have thought a set of RWU forks of the right diameter would be much easier to slot straight in than an USD set up. As Im no Rossi all I want is something a bit better than standard!

my K5 gsxr front end bolted straight onto my k4 sv with no problems or hassle at all didnt need 2 change any bearings or spacers etc...

even if you do find forks the right diameter, you will still need the wheel, discs, callipers, mudguard etc. etc.

i think i am right in saying that the gsxr 600 k1-2 RWU forks are cartage internals. often found cheep on ebay, which would free up cash to buy the rest of items.

plus you can sell the sv front end and recoup some of the cash outlay.

I think a model from the CBR600 range will fir into the standard SV yokes, not 100% sure on that though. Most of the RWU forks are of a larger diameter than the SV's, people have milled out the yokes a little before but it is not something I would recommend to be done.

What model SV have you got Glang?

Curvy owner here. I am also very much interested in updating the front, not that I have a real need to mind you as I'm no racer and mainly ride the bike two up. The link to the K3 forks is interesting, more so if I could keep my stock clip-ons, wheel and brakes. Is that possible? I guess I'll also need a different upper bearing.

Yes, it can be done but it would require you to make your own spindle calliper adaptor plates and spacers for the discs. As for the clip-ons, best get an aftermarket set.

All this would cost more than twice as much as it would for a direct swap, shop right and you will recoup all the money with a swap by selling your entire OEM SV front end. Also note it would cost a fair bit to replicate the parts if you ever have an accident, standard GSXR parts are easy to source.

I got a k6 and thought a front end off a GSR600 or something would be an improvement but maybe it'd be more hassle than its worth and as u say easier to go GSXR. Or I could just change the fork oil....
