Default Altberg Hogs

Just got a pair of these and ooooohhh are they comfy. They are also 100% water proof and easy to walk in.

How did you make sure they were the right size for you? Did you visit their factory? I'm just a bit nervous about buying boots without trying them on first.

I've just looked at their web-site and they do look like quality boots. Not cheap, but I expect that you get what you pay for:

Thing is, over the last 4 years I've had a pair of Sidi black rains (£120), and a pair of Bulsons from Hein Gericke (£65) and neither has lasted longer than two years. I wear my boots every day so they take a bit of a beating and the Altbergs just look more sturdy. I assume that the cheaper ones maintain their waterproofing through treating the leather. That, and getting the rigth size whilst buying over the internet are my only concerns. They also look like they shuold be more comfortable for walking in.

I bought mine over the internet without having to have mine specially made, the reason for this is I already know my size and I also know that I don't have any special requirements ( ie one foot being slightly smaller ).
The boots come with a wax called Leder Gris which is used on the boots during the making of them. The lip inside of the boots are actually attached to the sides so it basically makes it into a tube.
The lead time at the moment is 3 months so you will have a long time to wait unless they have a set already made.

Thanks for that. 3 months! My boots have just started leaking so was looking for a more immediate replacement. Maybe I'll get some next time but plan ahead!

I bought my ALTBERG'S about 9 years ago, I ride approx 15k miles a year and they have been excellent , I bought a pair of SIDI black rain last year cos they look sexier and they are now f**ked after only 20k . You get what you pay for !

I've had some Altberg Clubman Classics for a few years now. I don't do gazillions of miles, but they are just settling in nicely like a pair of "proper" boots should, and I can see them lasting practically forever.

They have been totally waterproof so far, and got a good testing thi sJune in a trip to the Dolomites, where it RAINED!!!!!!! The LederGris is good stuff.

By the by, I've got a pair of very lightly used Sidi Black Rains size 46 (UK 101/2 I reckon) going cheap if anyone wants them. Drop a PM.

But, Altberg have one of the slowest delivery times known to man, their customer service has gone right down the tubes in recent years, their boots are pig ugly and expensive. It's about time they looked at their range and made it a little more attractive to buyers, and looked at their marketing and customer service. I cannot for the life of me see why anyone will buy them any more.

Had mine for two years now. I'm pleased. I did go the factory for fitting, but only as I was on my way to Durham from dahn sarf.
