The restrictors are blocking it up you need to make them fall out.... it will start fine then!

speaking of batteris - going to thunder road on saturday anf they said they have 2 batteries on offer - one for £30 and one for £50. now obviously they said the £50 is much better choice but could there really be that much of a difference? i can't use an optimate or anything but do use the bike at least 3 times a week but not always for particularly long rides.

Still sounds like a dead battery, do you have anything you can jump it off to be sure?

Dead battery; with the bike running at tickover, you will see around 14 V (at least, Thats what I see). Get the battery on a trickle charger - the cold may have killed it off if there was a little bit of charge left after all that starting (iirc 10 minutes of engine running is required to charge the battery to the state it was in before the bike was started? I've read that some place on here). Batteries dont like being fully emptied though, so dont make a habit of draining the battery! If your not gonna be using the bike much over the winter, keep the battery on a trickle charger to maintain its condition.
