Default Been offered a really cheap car...

One of the lads at work has just bought himself a tasty 5 series beemer and has his old banger runaround up for sale. 1998 Clio, 3 owners including him, little 1.2 RL with about 80k on the clock. He wants £300 but its got a full years test on it, 6 months tax and just been serviced. Sounds like a good deal as Ive not seen any cars that cheap with a full years ticket & test on it. Reckon it'll be ideal for getting to work and back on the cheap and being able to sell the MX5 without worrying about how Im going to get to work.

For those interested, what you reckon to it?

go for it

french crap, but if it only lasts a few years you can just scrap it, depends how old you are, as insurance may by more than the cars worth

What Hovis said. So long as the insurance is cheap also..got to be a winner. One assumes the engine is not about to fall out the bottom of the car or anything.

I think insurance TPFT is about £150 which is more than I thought it would be (considering the mx5 is grp 15 and is only £330 FC)

It breaks one of my all time car buying rules... i.e never buy a Renault. But at that price if it breaks you can throw it away.

If you don't want it, then I'll consider having it. As the others said long as nothing is about to fall off, then its a cheap car that if it breaks then it doesn't matter. My insurance is kinda cheap having 7 years protected no claims.

Two of my daughters have Clios (2008 and 1997 models), the other daughter has a Punto - guess which car is off the road awaiting costly repairs.

I'll give you a clue, it was made in Italy.
