Default Guitar Hoorah!

I've just fixed the preamp on my acoustic guitar. Damaged it before when replacing the battery connector (PP9 thing- was hanging on by a thread!).

I killed one of the contacts on the connector to the circuit board when I first attempted it.

It's a bit of a botch job (wires are held in place with insulating tape to ensure they don't wobble and break the connection), but it works!

Spot of a clean to the whole thing. Lemon oil to the fretboard, new strings and I'm away. Bit of fastfret on the strings and lovely. They're a bit zingy at the moment, but will mellow in- I love new strings on the electrics, but not so much on the acoustic. I'm wondering if 12 guage is a touch light though.

Great- I'll be free to terrorise the open mic nights in the new year...

If you want something that's going to give you great quality but still fantastic value, try Freshman guitars. I've got an FA400D, paid £420 for it, but I'd have to have spent at least £900 on a bigger brand-name to get the same quality with a badge.

Had it for 3 years, sounds amazing

I love my little Crafter, they do some quite nice stuff at good prices. (Mine is their travel guitar, which is perfect for me because it feels like an electric- sounds alright too.)

oo now they are preetty. My best mate bought her husband one last year, he spends a lot of time on the road in Europe in his truck.
My acoustic is probably around 40 yrs old now, unfortunately the thing was placed against a wall on the neck, so its forced the main part to bow slightly and make the bridge lift, it would cost fortune to resoak it and put it right, so I had it drilled through and screwed. It hasn't changed the sound or tone at all thankfully. But it don't do bad for a 40 yr old tanglewood.

I've just bought my little lad a three quarter steel strung one for xmas ......he might leave mine alone now

Have had many guitars.

My old Gibson Les Paul Standard was far and away the best of them all.
(Should not have sold it)

Currently the only one I own is a Yamaha FG 04 LTD (acoustic)
It's limited edition of their FG series with a rosewood body and neck (spruce top).
The rosewood body gives a more mellow tone than most Yamaha's.
My strings go down to 10 guage.
I'd like lighter ones on it but it really looses volume if you do.
