The sv seems to be surging a bit lately. Its more noticeable in the lower revs when going slow in and around the city. Chain and sprocket are relatively new and in good nick. Tyre pressure is fine. Rear wheel is aligned using swingarm to axle method. Clutch seems ok. What else could cause this feeling? Definitely engine-ish as if i freewheel its not present..

Balance the carbs up. Is it due a valve clearance check?

Done some reading and it looks like my bike may be running lean ie. lean surge? Is there a relatively easy way to solve this, or is it a trip to the garage even though i just got my carbs balanced and clearances checked? Don't have any experience with carbs or shims and whatnot...

I thought they do surge anyway?
mine seems to a bit at low revs and low speed when not under much load. Steve |

Mines restricted also, if that makes any difference. And has a baffless Beowulf slip on too... |

Sounds more like a stuck choke to me.
The front choke plunger is susceptible to water ingress. I would guess the plunger and spring is rusted up and sticking in the open position. |

Would this not cause the engine to idle a bit higher than before the surging appeared? |

If the choke was stuck open on one of the cables, you'd have a rough idle , where the needle would move around from 1000 to say 2000 or above depending.
p.s. are you doing the toy run on sunday ? |
