I'm guessing you mean surname of Zanti, not first name?

USA: Turn of the century there's a couple of Zanti's listed in Maryland, which continued into the 60's. A few "recent" deaths in the Zanti family in Baltimore, MD, others in Texas. Latest death I've seen in the Social Security Death Index was Joseph Zanti in Baltimore 19/5/2003, unknown age. His dad (Joseph Sr) died almost 2 years before, aged 79, in Arlington Texas.

In the 20's there were a few "Zanti's" in Oklahoma and Vancouver.

I couldn't find any history of the surname in the UK, and given history in the US, I thought it worth while checking army records, non there either. Neither Medals of Honour or Perl Harbour victims/casualties.

I've also found 53 Zanti's on ship manifests from 1850-1957, some of which have photo's. All ships were either taking passengers from, or to New York.

There's also a Simona Zanti that works as a Market Researcher at GFK Eurista in Italy.

There's a variation of the name, "Zante" - you could of mis-spelt it I assume, naturally this originates from Greece, some people have that surname, but as Zante is a holiday destination, it's not very productive to research names, so I focussed on Zanti.

My guess, would be that the name originated in Greece, but there's now a large-ish population of Zanti's living in America, having emigrated around 1900 ish.

HTH... and yes, I was bored.

Baph knows things that people are not supposed to know.

I'm sometimes scared by Baph, and the information he is able to drag out from the depths of the interwebnet
