Post Just thought I'll say HI 2 every1

Hello all, I suppose I should start of by introducing myself my name is Jason I'm 19 and live in the south-west of Cornwall, I've been reading most of your topics and going through them and I must say I know more about my bike now than I had first thought.

I have passed my A2 bike test (33 bhp restriction ) and own a 2001 Y reg suzuki sv650s 25K milage fully faired beast, I've not had a good start to my biking life when I purchased it almost 4 months ago the seller was not as forth-coming as he could have been about the history of the bike.
But after a LOT of money and time off the road I've got her back in running order.

I do have a couple of perks since having it back from the garage is it normal for this particullar SV model to have a poping sound when idel or at low revs? And also has anyone ever experianced engine cutting when in neautral or on tickover?

I look forward to partisipating and getting to know you all on this community.

-Jason

Hi, welcome.

Popping at tickover, a SLIGHT popping is normal if you have a race exhaust on it, however the cutting out is not. That suggests either your idle speed is too low, or if the popping is severe then an air leak somewhere.

I've have experienced slight popping but this is much louder and persistent than before, and also with the idle speed I have adjusted it to the recommended 1500 - 2000rpm as stated in the manual lets hope that does the trick. thanks for your advice much appreciated.
