Default Front muguard removal.

The haynes manual says that i need to remove the front wheel to get the front fender off (finally got round to putting fender extender on!)

can i remove it without taking the front wheel off? as i havnt got the right stand!

yes you can take the fender off without removing the wheel. Just undo the bolts that hold it to the fork legs and then you should be able to slide it forward and then off the bike.

i have on the pointy it was a git to get at two of the bolts though but the wheel stayed very much attached to the bike.

+ 1, there are two plates on the inside of the mudguard that the mount bolts thread in to. You may hear these drop when you undo the bolts, nothing to worry about.

If you leave the wheel on be careful not to rub the guard against the fork leg.
It is a very tight squeeze but can be done. It helps if you put a rag or something between the guard and fork leg when taking it out and putting it in. The guard will flex quite a bit too which helps.

I put a few light scratches on the mudguard doing it, where it rubbed against the fork legs.

I'd masking tape up all the paintwork you can before removal and refitting.

sorry to hijack the thread, Fizz, can i do that on a GSXR as well - don't want to remove the wheel, i think i can ? but guessed you would probably know ?
