Default New R1 09

I know the Gladius is hot topic as a new bike but I'm sure there's a few on here that might enjoy the sound of the R1 if not the look! Drive of a twin, power of an IL4! (sorry if a repost)

Surely that's not a roadtest at all

I don't like the look of it, and don't trust MCN especially when they've got a holiday to Oz out of it! Frame has more flex and more rigidity? Surely those factors are kinda mutually exclusive?

I will buy a pint for the first person to 'fighter one!

If you're talking about the same thing - but he said "more flex, more rigidity, where it counts"...

I hope it sounds a lot better in the flesh, and with race cans of course. Other than that the bike is butt ugly, it does look better in race trim but still isn't the prettiest 1000cc Japanese bike for 2009 (in fact they are all ugly).

I think that looks a brilliant bit of kit, sounds good and I like the looks. Too bad that if i rode it it would probably become the fastest ditch finder around

Wow new R1 sounds remarkably similar to a twin eh? It doesn't look as great as it's pre R1's but its not as ugly as the Blade is it?

I like it's dual projector lights similar to Buell Firebolt's. Wonder if they're interchangeable? I'll go check the R1 out this weekend, just to see if I could fit those lights into my fairing.

My lights are poor from the bulbs heat destroying the plastic reflective coating inside. Seems like they were all defective and fixing them requires replacing the whole items making it expensive. Worse still the new parts could end up like the ones before.

I think the different sound is the 'uneven' firing pattern but whatever it is I thought it sounded the dogs. Not that keen on the coloured swingarm or the rear cans although I quite like the front end
