Out of interest, which legislative change(s) would make you give up road riding? Feel free to add your own.
Filtering being made illegal. Motorcyclists having to pay an NHS contribution surcharge. Mandatory GPS-based speed limiters. Restriction of Acceleration on a bike to something more akin to a car's. Legal requirement to wear full CE approved kit and spine protector whenever riding. All non-dual carriageway A-roads being made 40 limits. NB: Most of the above are hypothetical, rather than proposed legislation. |

I think it would be making filtering illegal, as i'm into town everyday, so no filtering would mean i'd probably take public transport.
but making A roads 40mph would probably push me past the limit. or if they released a "bikes must not lean over, stabilizers should be put on to prevent leaning" then i'd just use a car! |

Yep. Filtering is the big one for me too. Bikes would be useless for anything other than weekend toys if it was brought in (and enforced).

All of these would be a deal breaker for me:
Filtering being made illegal. Motorcyclists having to pay an NHS contribution surcharge. Mandatory GPS-based speed limiters. Restriction of Acceleration on a bike to something more akin to a car's. The A road restriction would annoy me in a car or a bike regardless, and I wear approved armour and back protector anyway cos it is a good idea. |

All those in the list above wouldn't make me stop riding. They'd just make my riding (more) illegal. To be honest, I'd rather emigrate if all of the above got enacted

The only one of those that wouldn't bother me is having to wear CE approved kit + a spine protector. Then again, perhaps any kit made for motorcycling should be CE approved as standard anyway?

GPS can fall down stairs... accidents happen. Speed/acceleration limiters? Maybe on standard bike. Remember how long the inlet restrictors on EXUPs were fitted for on new bikes lol. 175mph after cutting little bit of rubber out.

I think I'd start removing my numberplate and no long taxing or Insuring my bike out of protest.
