Question Exhaust/Can Compatibilty

Hi Everyone,

Im a total noob on this forum, and bought my 99 SV650 SX a few months ago, after a 6 month break from my last bike, a 2001 cbr 600f-Sport.

Ive basically been offered can for my SV, but its from a newer '04 bike, and was wondering what the actual compatibility issues were between the newer and older models, as Ive noticed that usually they are usually catergorised to fit '99-02' or '03-08' models, but cant actually find anything about why they are different . . .and Im sure someone on here can tell me!

Many thanksv

don't quote me, but I think the pipe diameter is wider on an 03-present SV than a 99-02.

Link pipe is different. If can is cheap it's worth getting a custom made one. Usually about £30

That was quick! cheers all

Thought it might be something like that!

Will look into the cost of a custom link pipe locally . . .then weigh up whether its worth the hassle!

Thanks again

Its actually a beowulf exhaust, Ive just emailed them to see if they do/have the custom pipe. If they do i'd imagine its prob best to get one off them.

thanks again

They do, they also have jig for SV pipe so should be able to sort you something without taking the bike to them.

I believe it is £30.
