I'm trying to get the bolt of the above so I can the exhaust off and get a new one one.
I think its seized, then the bolt has rounded off, its a 6mm, alan key fit. So I how to do I get this off? Why do the simple jobs turn into being a real pain in the **** ![]() |

Use a Dremmel. Cut a slot in the head for a decent sized screwdriver bit and then use an impact driver on it. And lots of penetrating oil/wd40.

If you've goosed the head, it'll need cutting off, there is the slimmest possibility that you could hammer a slightly bigger hex bit into it and turn that instead - but I'm not hopeful. 'Cos you, like many others on here, don't have much experience of working with tools or motorcycles.

Right the good news is that I have got that bolt lose now, with aid of lots of wd40, so thats coming lose. Its a bit of pain but its lose enough.
However the bolt on the left side (nearside) of the bike that holds the exhaust system I aseume that you turn it left to undo no? (I have got the one on rightside off no problems) Thats dam tight as well, in the mean time I have sprayed with lots of wd40, gonna leave it to soak overnight. Yup I'm a total novice, however more I praticse the better at I hope to become. Don't need the bike tonight, my mate is driving and I'm drinking ![]() |

Anti-clockwise = Undo/Loosen
Clockwise = Do up/Tighten ![]() |

FFS throw away that can of WD40 and invest in a can of penetrating oil, don't go out tonight and save the beer money to buy some decent tools that don't knacker fasteners

Pro-Gas is awesome bolt-loosening spray. Spray copious amounts on the offending bolt then try a quick tighten to 'crack' the bolt - it should then loosen...

I have one problem that being, now the bolt which is 12mm, on the left handside of the bike(gear change/nearside) I got the bolt lose with a bit of effort after leaving it over night. However the bolt is now lose, but it will neither undo or tighten.
Its is spinning around inside, I can't get it out, hence can't get the system off. Why is it doing that? I'm totally stuck, don't know what to do. Any ideas? I have some deep prentating spray which I sprayed lots onto it, no difference made. |

Umm I guess that means it needs to be drilled out right? Okay so I need to buy some new bolts. Next question is where do I buy the bolts from? I might buy all the ones for the exhuast system as one of the other ones doesn't look great. Sigh. All I do I was lossen it off, how can that make a a thread fubar?
