There were a few programmes from the 60s/70s that followed the same premise - the hero goes from place to place, not quite fitting in, does some good then moves on after some mis-understanding has been rectified.

loads of comedy ones to choose here, steptoe, dads army, citizen smith, porridge, fawlty towers, rigsby. selwyn froggit, lovers, till death do us part, love thy neighbour. too many, best time in brittish tv era.

There's so many great shows from the 70's - Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Dads Army, Steptoe, the Goodies (why don't they repeat the Goodies - they were superb), george & Midred, It's a Knockout (the international ones).
