How long after a beer is out of date would you happily drink it? Or how long after it's sell by date would it taste off?

I need to fill up my amazing new fridge with cheap nearly out of date beer.

I think canned beer can taste a bit odd past it's sell by date, but bottles seem fine.

Seriously though, I've drunk bottled beer 3 years past it's sell by date and it was fine.
