Default Silkolene pro fst

Right, I got some of the pro fst that a few people told me about, in preparation for the winter coming. I doubt I'll need it for a little while yet, but I know the mornings are getting colder and more damp.

I've read 1% of the total liquid in the tank as Pro FST should be enough, is this about 170 ml? It didn't come with a measuring cup, or instructions (i was offered octane boost which did come with a measuring cup...bloke in the shop said it worked in his GSXR1000...I told him it probably did, its a high-performance bike!) so I need some advice - I dont wanna mess it all up!

I'll only ever put it in when I fill up with fuel, and I always fill right up

Matt

Of course it worked in a GSXR1000, they don't suffer from carb icing because they don't have carbs.

Yea I know that, the guy in the shop didnt seem too clued up, and didn't seem to understand what I ment by my SV engine being in a low state of tune (he seemed more insistant I should use an octane booster...)

Anyway, the FST seems like it should do the trick at solving the problems I was having last winter, I just want to be sure on how much to put in with each fill up

My bike runs much better with pro fst in it, I was getting terrible carb icing over the winter til Pete put me on to this stuff. I found that only one cap full would make the difference, though more often than not I'd put two in. I think Pete put a bit more than that in, not sure. He used it over summer from what i remember, as his curvy ran better in general.

Its worth getting a camping type metal flask to keep it in (cant remember what they're called), from my experience the silkolene bottle is crap and a bit leaky. Unfortuately mine escaped when my bag unzipped itself while I was minding my own business down the M4...

We used 100ml to a tankful. Just put it in every time we fuelled up. We carried it in a sigg bottle in the tank bag.

Spot on, that is what I have used for the past few years and I have never had a problem.

I carry three test tubs, taped together with insulation tape, with 100ml shots in each.

It is the absolute nuts. I keep a vodka miniature full under my seat just in case, gets some funny looks That's not a full dose but combined with premium petrol is enough for pretty much any conditions that are safe to ride in.

Cheers guys, 100 ml it is then. Thanks for the idea of a better bottle, I was just thinking the plastic bottle might leak...I''ll get something from the camping shop this weekend

Here's to a smooth-running winter's worth of riding
