Default Scrappage scheme, will it apply to bikes?

As it looks more and more like we're going to get a scrappage scheme (£2000 for cars over 10yrs apparently) I was wondering if anyone knows how it would apply to bikes?

Not so much scrapping the bike, but if I get £2000 for scrapping my old 5 series (as much as I love it I just dont need it anymore) could I put it towards a new bike? I know the plan is to get people into newer, more efficient vehicles and most bikes will do better than the 25mpg I get.

I know nothing concrete has been anounced yet but wondering what peoples thoughts on it are...

Stupid scheme. Cars like mine (not very old focus) will suddenly be worth far less, so I'll be less inclined to replace it. All this whilst costing the taxpayer a fortune to keep the car companies rich.

We can't protect everyone, all of the time. Mad schemes like this are going to make sure this depression lasts as long as possible.

It's a £2k discount against a new car. Not cash.

So, they give me £2000 for my old car, but where does the rest of the money for the brand new car come from?

Surely they're not encouraging us to run up even more debt?

It'll just be another government farce.
Dealers will be able to use it to offer a £2000 discount on new cars, and like trade ins, you wont even need an old car, they will have plenty 'round the back'

Double debt! You get the loan to buy the car, and the government will add the £2k to our national debt (although it'll be about £4k by the time all of the bureaucracy is taken in to account)

What a wonderful idea!

I've got another one.... how about they quit meddling and let us sort this mess out ourselves
