Default Is there a better riding road?

Had a ride out this morning and went from Darlington to Whitby, then Pickering, Helmsley, Thirsk, Northallerton and back to Darlington.

The whole route was great, but the A169 from Whitby to Pickering is awesome. Is there a better road than this to ride on? Loads of great bends and enough straights to get past the traffic.

That said, there was loads of Police out today, so I had to watch my speed!

I went the other way to Hawes which for me is a better road. Much prefer B road twisties to A roads. Any straight longer than 250 meters is too long

Saw three cars all afternoon and no police cars.

Buttertubs Pass (the road from Thwaite to Hawes) is excellent. Also the Road from Ribblehead Viaduct to Settle is really good fun too.

Prefer the challenge of very twisty country lanes and mountain passes to fast A roads.

A686 Alston-Melmerby via Hartside compares very well.

In the world? The road from Campbell river to Gold river on vancouver Island. 3 hours and not one straight on perfect asphalt.

Hell yeah! But was driving an RV.

I also have a note in a journal of a kayaking trip to Canada that the road from Hope to Princetown in Okanagan (highway 3?) is awesome....

But UK roads? Loads in N. Wales beat the A169 - which used to my stamping ground in late 90's. A44 to Aberystwyth is most excellent or A548 'crashy road' also

Masham to Layburn, then over to Hawes via Bootle Castle mucker, burrtertubs pass.
then Ribblehead valley ,whitescar caves, then on to Devils bridge. north up to the back road where Hovis got knocked off. Left toward the A6, shap road... continue to Penth, over the round about to melmerby, hartside, altston, and back over towards Durham......
MOST EXCELLENT.....!
