Is the thermostat housing just held in place with the hoses or is it bolted to the frame on a 1999

Just the hoses, no attachment to the frame at all. Be aware 2 wires on it, an earth and the temp light sensor.

Thanks again stuck it on bike tonight just waiting for engine adj bolt to come and can get frame on engine does the org engine bolts look stainless steel or chrome colour or are these aftermarket ones because i will have to amend the torque settings to suit dont whant to strip the threads on engine
