Default Help Identifying a GSXR

I've got the chance of a GSXR750 project. Possibly to make into a 7-11. However, I have no real idea what year this is, year of registration and tax data don't agree with the model history here:
http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-R-se...X-R750_a.shtml
So I'm not sure what year it is etc. It's probably still worth the money, but I'm not sure whether it's worth poking with the 1100 stick...

I have reg details and frame number if that helps.
E640 ERB
(see here: http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ and you'll know as little as me!)

Frame number is GR716-105235

Ask on www.gixerjunkies.com they should be able to help you.

without the benefit of looking it up I'd say that was a 86 frame, it's not the same as the 88 I had, can't be much more help than that though.

Cheers Mark.

It's an F, G or H model. F models had a shorter swingarm, but a fair few were replaced with the longer G model one by Suzuki, if the owner requested it. J and K models had a slightly different frame and a short stroke engine, they reverted back to the long stroke engine and went with USD forks on the L and M models, before going to watercooling on the WN.

Anyone know if they're strong enough to take the 1100 motor? (I have an account on OSS but have forgotten the details... oops)

You sure that's not GR71G - 105235?

GR71G is the frame designation for F and G models, which would date it as a 1985 or '86 frame. I'd say an '86, because there wasn't a single GSXR750 left in a dealer's showroom right the way through 1985, everyone who could possibly get their hands on them bought every last one of them. There's a remote chance that an '86 model was registered late, but not a hope that an '85 survived the year unregistered.

Plenty of people put Gixer 1100 engines in them with little or no trouble. I'd put a Bandit 1200 lump in myself, cheaper, newer and easier to source a good one, and built on Gixer 1100 cases so it'll go in just as easily. If you need more power, slot some 1100 cams in.

But isn't a GSXR a UJM?

Have fun with it if you get it, looks like it could be interesting.
