Default two up touring on a pointy

Me and the missus are considering this; shes tall mind.
We're both sort of 5' 9"-10" and about the same weight 11 - 12 stone.
I think a bagster seatster would be a given.
Is it possible though? Or should I chop it in for a sprint st.................

Shouldn't be a problem so long as you have enough luggage space to keep her happy I used to do long stints with my ex on the back of a curvy no problem. Hell, I used to tour on a GPZ500 with full luggage and the Mrs, so the SV should be absolutly fine I think. Just bare in mind the rear shock might want a rebuild or replacing dependign on milage as with all that weight you might find it gets a bit bouncy if it's knackered.

Me and maria manage it. Its easier with the topbox; I brought it after we struggled to pack enough stuff with a backpack and a tankbag.

god-send

She was about er...10 stone ish maybe, about 5'11" and I'm 6 foot and 11.5 stone. We also had enough luggege to sink a battle ship. The sprint would doubtless be a better bike for the job, so if you can afford it why not . The SV would be OK though if this is just going to be a one off.

EDIT - also totally depends how you want to ride. If 100mph plus is your thing then the SV will struggle, but thats probably not what you have in mind. Sort the shock and it will still handle fine.

is it just me and the mrs, cos we find the seats on the pointy about as much use as a chocolate fireguard, and definatly no use for touring, we are seriously considering aftermarket seat options.

The bike will probably handle the weight, but it won't be very comfortable!

I did a tour of Devon/Cornwall a few years ago on my SV1000 two up:-

It was okay for up to about an hour, after that my 4rse and knees were killing me. Some of the smaller twisty roads were a killer, especially down hill as all the weight was on my wrists.

Which is why I now have this:-

We did this no problem. We're the same built and size and used a naked pointy. Averaged 400 miles a day and did this for 10 days. Never an ache and we totally enjoyed it. Oh did I say we did this 2 years ago, end of June when UK was flooded!

How does the ST compare in the sports sense? Handling, power?
