Default what are the symtoms of a bad reg/rec

as the title says, can some one point out some symtoms of a dodgy reg/rec please?

Battery going flat. Fuses randomly blowing. Battery cooking/boiling. Random faults.

If you think it's bad, get a multimeter and check. You should have 13.5-14.5V across the battery at 5k rpm with the lights on.

Battery goes flat basically... On my SV I'd ride it and it would be oK and then I'd switch it off and the starter solenoid would "click" and then the bike wouldnt turn over.

Best way to check if your not sure is described here
