Default I'm having REAL grief stubbying a can. Someone please help me.

I've drilled out the old rivets and am trying to drill the noew holes before cutting the can.

I can't for the life of me get through the stainless steel. I'm using cobalt bits and have punched where I want the holes but all the bits are doingis getting to a certain point before they just won't cut any more. The bits are still good.

HEEEELLLLPPP!!

Get a bigger more powerful drill, decent drill bits shouldn't struggle.

Have you got a dremel? maybe a high speed drill with a small drill bit will get through to make your pilot hole

BTW
What can are you stubbying? I drilled my viper no problem. Doesn't say much for the quality of it though

Scorpion can.

The drill is decent and so are the bits. It's not struggling but just polishing the bit I've drilled to the same angle as the end of the bit.

dont drill the new holes before you cut the can.. cut the can then put the end back into place then drill the holes.

1. having the end on will help deformation.
2. both the can sleeve and the end will have the holes in the right place.

if you have an variable speed trigger try keeping the speed down (it'll cut better) just before you go right threw 'lift off' on the pressure this will help on the final to stop 'snagging'.

ooohhh you need to exert a fair old pressure to get it to start.
