fork springs too short? - SV650.org

Anybody else had this problem? I sent off for progressive springs from Hagons and was told by the garage that they were too short, sent for longer set ,still too short! Both the garage and Hagon are mystified.The bike is a 2000 s .p

Thats very strange, they should fit in and with the spacers on top should be a perfect fit, unless your being sent the wrong sets.

I'm sure my Hagons were shorter than my old stock ones, but then of course they would be, the stock ones were old and knackered.

Surely, old knackered ones should be shorter than the new ones?

Yes they would be shorter, anyway these are inches too short so maybe sumtin is missing but its not obvious looking at the microfiche and the manual is too generic to be of use.can anyone recomend a fork specialist in the London area?p

i'm pretty sure my hagon springs were shorter than the standard ones, i was also given a small spacer to use along with the standard one (hollow tube)

I have asked a local reputable garage about the springs and they dont rate Hagon, also Maxton recon you need stiff springs and not progressives.The plot thickens, so I think I will return the Hagons and will talk to Maxton in Cambridgeshire.P

Curvy hagon kit is a direct OEM replacement I'm fairly sure of that, I don't remember fitting any spacers etc. to Dizzys bike, they just went it like normal.

Progressive vs linear arguement has been done to death with no conclusion reached. Personally I'd prefer linear... with progressives you're going to end up with not enough rebound damping at bottom of stroke, or too much at the top. Damper rod forks are compromised enough without adding another.

Maxton kit for pointy has some shorter than stock spacers to use. Dunno what they do with the curvy.

Some curvy kit comes with a length of white plastic tube (HDPE?), I think I've put those in andybrads bike. Might have been "progressive" brand.
