Default Rear Blowout!

I was riding between Richmond and Croft today and my rear tyre blew out! It was only put on two weeks ago! Gutted!

Cannot see any holes or nails, so it is a mystery! Was a little scary though!

Glad you're okay mate. Were you in that group on the road between Darlington and Northallerton yesterday where that Gixxer went arsse over tit into the hedge and the rider went sliding into the grass?

I was stuck at work yesterday, so missed all the Sunday riding action! Was the fella ok?

I am going to call White Bros Honda, who fitted the tyre. Hope they can sort it without too much expense!

Could possibly be a manufacturing fault as well, get them to check it out and send it back.....

I have found the hole! It is right in one of the grooves, so I presume it is a weak point of the tyre! I have been told by the fitters that they cannot repair holes on these tyres either, so I feel as if I have just thrown away the £85 or so it cost to put the thing on two weeks ago!

As someone said today, it could have been worse..... it could have been the front tyre!

Surely it would be covered under a warranty? What brand is it? Avon for definite have warranties on all new tyres. If it's a workmanship issue (as would be the case if it was a weak point in the tyre), the company you bought it from should replace it.

You said a blowout, you might have a chance at getting one of those replaced. What you have is a puncture. Avon, as far as I know, are the only manufacturer to offer a warranty against punctures.
