Default Taking forks apart, fork seal change

I'm going to replace my fork seals (99 650) i've come to use my impact driver on the nut on the bottom and sockets don't reach far enough to get to it.
So my question is how do you undo this to aid changing for seals?

Have you already popped the forks apart? As its easiest to release this a touch when there is compression from the springs, then completely remove it when strip them apart.
So you might need to put it back together again, else I know you can get sockets with long adapters from places like Halfords so it might be a trip to the shops.

I managed with a long hex allan key and some pliers on the other end for a bit more leverage. Just so you know I did this while they where still assembled but off the bike.

I used an 8mm Allen Key that I'd sawed the "L" off, then popped that into an 8mm socket. Easy peasy!

As above, the forks were still assembled at this point.

I think Suzuki also sell a special tool to do this, but it costs a few bob.

Draper and a few others make kits of hex bits that are 10mm hex drive with adapters for 3/8" and 1/2". Cool kit, has saved me loads of effort and money with snapping stuff.
