Unhappy front brake problems.

ok heres the deal,
a few months ago i had real problems with my front brakes stickin on, so turned out to be a seal had gone.
a dealer (not to my liking but at least job was done right) replaced all front seals both sides and one of the disks (the joints in it where knackered)
the front brakes where fine for ages untill recently when they began to stick again, i took em apart and cleaned the piston with disk-brake cleaner as best i cud, got most of the corrosion n c**p off them and put em bk together, thought they wer workin fine but every now and then the brakes jus lock up and i have to pull to a stop and the play with them (the lever just not the actual brake itself, sometimes all i have to do is stop and start and they free up) and set off again.
i dont know if its relevant put when the new disk was on there was a light scraping sound once per reveloution, i assumed it was new disk against warped pad and it wud wear in but if i corner really sharply to the left especially i can hear it scraping loudly! (everything down there is well attached btw) im just worried its gona b another 300 quid job if i dont act fast!
any help or similar experience please?????
thanks guys n gals
Chris.

i'd be surprised to see a warped disc causing a 'lock-up'... this sounds like calipers to me

Did you clean out both calipers? Or just the one with the new disc? Because i guess the other could have some dirt in it that intermittently clogs the caliper.

Yeah strip and clean the calipers properly, check both discs for runout.

I'd echo looking properly at the calipers, but as you say playing with the lever helps, have you taken the lever off, cleaned the area it pivots on and refitted using a little oil or grease?

Often overlooked and makes things feel smoother.

Did you clean and lube the caliper sliders too? And have you checked the master cylinder? Could be dirt occasionally blocking the return hole, causing the brakes to lock up.

Im gona have to completely strip it down soon, its gettin the time! but yeh i wana do it properly as well not jus a half assed job so il do it in a week or two wen im finished tech
as for the comment bout the warped disc; it didnt cause the problem it was the result of the front brakes comin on slightly over long periods of time but it was only wen the brakes started bitin properly that i could feel it, so over a few weeks of ridin it destroyed the washer things that hold the inside and outside of the disk together (the word for them has escaped me but u get the idea)
