Default Stubby Time? crashed titanium Akra

OK I know this is going to look bad but I didn't crash it!
and now it sounds worse that I intentionally put a crashed part on my bike but I was on a budget and it wasn't the cosmetics that made me want a new can, its the SOUND! and its 'kin awesome

But now I have some cash and people seem to be making it look easy to stubby exhausts I wondered if people thought it was possible on this one? not quite just cutting a pristine one down though this is damaged at the bottom end, I'm guessing I'd need a new one of those. I don't care about the downpipe.

Then if its possible to source the parts and is feasible, the question becomes, how short? I'd got in my head to shorten it down to make the distance between the front and the bracket the same as the rear, so the bracket is right in the middle, that would also trim off that bracket mark from its previous mounting. Does that sound about right or what?

Am I best getting this done by one of the guys on ebay perhaps or does it look simple enough to those who know about such things?

Anyway, as always, any thoughts, comments or advice much appreciated!

i know akra do parts for their supermoto pipes and systems so quite likely they'll have them for that one, if they aren't the same...

It's in an awkward place for a stubby to fix.

You must be able to source the funnely bit from the bottom of the can, replace that and chop the end off a little. My dad cut down a carbon one before and switched the ends round to hide some marks. Worked well, assuming that its symmetrical?

OK ten points to the smarty pants, thats a damn good point, just rotate it, marks on the back and the other side should be fine. I like your thinking.

Might need to adjust the spring clip points but thats trivial compared to the ground away section

Hmm I noticed Akrapovic sell spare bands and rivets, will have to look up how I'd rivet it but that would be all I'd need.

Thanks for that BournemouthBen!

yep think your best bet is twist it round then rivet a new band over it. You'll need a drill and a rivet gun.

Got a drill and a pletora of bits, rivet guns, are they all the same and are they expensive? I'm going to google now but just asking the question in case I come back with a harpoon gun or something

Hmm after a quick Google I found they seem to be pretty cheap, is this sufficient or am I best spending a little more?

After some brief googling and wiki-ing I now understand how rivets work (I'd only used the manual bash it till its flat type before) I've ordered a replacement band and some rivets, will source a gun now and I sense a weekend project coming on

Thanks Org!

looks suffiecient to me. The same thing as I've used in the past. Just drill a hole that's right for the size of your rivets loads the rivet gun poke the rivet in the whole and squeeze. nice and easy.
Hard bit's gonna be making your zorst look neat!
