Default Picked up my SV this evening - pics & first impressions

Hi fellas,

What a beautiful day to collect a new motorbike . Some of you are probably aware that i traded my Bandit 6 in for an 02 curvy SV. I did the exchange today after work. It was a strange ride to the shop knowing that this will be the last ever time i rode my Bandit. It didn't go too well either. I was filtering down the middle of a dual carriageway, not knowing that the long line of cars were stationary due to a cop bike making a blockade. Queue me flying up the middle and straight passed the copper with him holding his hand up screaming at me to stop . Woops.

The exchange of the bike went smoothly, so i set off home on my new SV. My very first impressions weren't that impressive to be honest. I was thinking that this doesn't feel that much different to my Bandit. Well apart from the quiet noise from the can, and the nice smooth gear changes. No more clunking gear box. It also felt small. My very first bike was a CBR125 - it felt like sitting on that again after the Bandit! I also noticed there was no fuel guage or trip counter (i later realised there is one after pressing the little button) which i thought was odd, and would be a pain.

The roads home were busy, and 40mph max, so i put my feelings down to the fact that i was on crappy boring roads and unable to get a proper feeling of the bike.

Got home, had my dinner, and immediately put my gear back on to take it for a proper blast. I headed to my favourite local country roads where i took my Bandit when i first got it. I treat them as my test track. All i can say is wow, my bad thoughts flew out of my head as i pulled back the throttle. I know this is no R1 or anything, but it felt like one compared to the Bandit. The 'pull' in every gear was immense. A few "woohoo, **** me!"s were shouted inside my helmet. I also found that the speed i was doing was really deceiving. The can is so quiet compared to the Viper i had. I could be doing say 60/70mph but it sounded so much slower because i have gotten so used to the roar of the can on my old bike.

I then reached the corners of my test track. Again, it felt like my lil cbr but obviously with a hell of a lot more power. I was flicking it left n right with ease and such confidence, nothing like i ever did on the Bandit.

The sun started going down so i headed home after a very fun first proper ride on my SV. I can't wait for my commute to work tomorrow morning now, just for another 25 mins of riding.

Thanks

nice one tango, welcome to the land of the v-twin...

il4's are a laugh if you wanna thrash it everywhere but v-twins have so much torque spread out that you can take it steady or have lots of fun without changing up and down all the time

oh and give us a shout if & when you get round to the end can
