Default dodgy clocks.

howthen, uncovered the bike this morning to find the rev counter backing has gone crazed. any idea what has caused this and if it can be easily fixed?

Define "crazed"?

Was the engine on or off as well?

If your clocks go crazy while you're riding expect iminent engine failure. (cuttign out). try turning off your lights at the tacho's cue. If that's what you mean.....

The wiring hasn't shorted or anything has it? melting the dial.
Either that or do you just have some condensation on the inside of the lense?

Does it look something like this?

If so have a look on my posts. There is a previous post by me about this, it ended up just being the sun melting the clock face! Oh search face melting or some thing like that!

not like that. ill take a pic later but it could be because its been in the sun. Seems silly they would go like that tho as its a bike you would expect it to be able to come with the elements?

Have you got a screen fitted, cos in some instances the screen wil increase the intensity of the suns rays and could focus them on the clocks.
