Default Motorcroos helmet question

Ok, I know the real answer, which is to go in and talk to a shop about this, but I'm just curious as to what the .org says, as I can't get to a shop until saturday and I'm impatient!

Should MX helmets fit like road helmets? I have tried on a few and they are all seem too loose compared to my road helmet. Most seem good around the forehead area i.e where you take the measurement from but the cheek pads don't seem to press on my face the same way a road helmet does. I'm wondering if this is a size issue or just design due to the different style of helmet and riding technique i.e more strenuous riding

Second question, is it true that Arai have different sized cheek pads, so you can vary them?

Thanks!
Luke

My motocross helmet never used to press against my cheeks like my Arai does now. Could've been the wrong size , but the measurements were correct

[EDIT]: I don't think the cheek pads in my Arai (road) aren't removable. Could be wrong though

my MX lid is tighter than my road lid, don't think there's a general design difference...

what are you getting one for? if you're spending anything but brief spurts above about 60mph or so forget it unless you have neck muscles like a body builder...

It's for enduro/trail riding - not really for road except getting from home > trail

fair enough, avoid the highways though, those peaks grab the wind like nothing else

I use an airoh tyger supermoto lid for green laning.
Its got a visor for the road sections and you can easily fit goggles under it too.
It makes the short road sections much more comfortable
