Well, what a great day i had riding for the first half of the day in the fantastic manx weather. I got 3 laps in then went for a quick break and too meet my mate.
So we pulled in at the Total garage parlimeant square on the course for fuel. 4 Other fantastic bikes were there including someone who clearly used the -Gixxer for Track racing and Road use through converting. -Spanking new Daytona 675 in black -Italia Blue Yamaha -Replica Repsol Honda Fireblade They set off as we were filling up and giving them the usual alright guys nod. By the time we set off on a very quick smooth lap on the course they were a good 5 minutes ahead of us... Onto mountain mile we were flashed several times, just assuming there were police ahead we eased off the throttle only to come round to Black Hut just before Veranda 4 to find a blue Mini was backwards in the hedging with the front pretty much destroyed, and too see a good 50 yards down the road a motionless biker with his bike even futher on... By this point the mountain wasnt shut there was just one unmarked police car on the scene who was sat just around the corner watching speeding R-Plate riders anyway. The result of this crash .... http://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/Motor...oad.5299167.jp Sickning when we'd just been with them 10 mins before he was killed... Nothing new but were not untouchable and certinaly last night made me consider whether riding bikes is worth it. Especially when this happened instantly after we decdied to go round the course the other way whilst waiting to see if the mountain would happen... My mate in the lead, me second overtaking 4-5 cars on sulby straight only traveling at about 60mph when a truck appeared wanting to come out of his farmers gate therefore meaning he would be coming at us, he looked at us let me mate passed then decdided i wasnt good enough and as i was along side a car almost crushing me between the two, only because of the split second reactions of the car i was overtaking and myself throwing myself back in did i avoid the collision... Too say i was fuming was an understatemeant i span the bike round as soon as safely possible and then went hammering it after him, with no luck of finding as he must have turned off somewhere, closest i ever come to a major crash and if i ever find out who it was he'll wakeup with no teeth... Anyway take care out there guys my rant is over. ![]() Sorry for crap grama and spelling. Last edited by ManxMatt34; 25-05-09 at 05:05 PM. Reason: Crap Grama |

When ever another biker dies, it is always very sad.
If it was their own fault, then hay, they might have known better than to push it too far. But when It involves a third party.. and lets face it ... then that is usually the case... RIP.... When the Manx TT is on, all the other traffic is going in the same direction... and not trying to pull out on you. I feel for you Matt. take care and hope you decide to carry on riding... Keep the black stuff down. ![]()

Its a sad day when a biker dies, doesnt matter if it was their fault or not tho as stated more often its the ignorance of the car driver.
When it comes to packing in biking i'd stick with it, its fun u enjoy it and with everything in life it has a risk. Taking no risks in life is dull imho. |

From memory, isn't Sulby straight a 40 zone, slowing to 30 as you come into the village and up to Sulby Bridge?

Yeh but tbh nobody sticks to speed limits on the Island out of TT and Grand Prix time there's some real stupid ones, all the way from Ginger Hall till Ramsey 6-7 years ago had not one speed limit now they've slowly crept in. |

Untouchable. (dented armco with his chest, turned bike into fireball, walked away)
But no he isn't, just lucky!
