I race a 2008 sv650 and am not allowed to replace or modify my shock. How do I rebuild and recharge my shock without leaving any signs of having taken it apart?

Pretty sure you can't rebuild the stock SV shock.

I'm afraid it's not a service I've seen offered. GSXR / ZX6R shocks etc can be rebuilt for around £100, but the SV item can have the spring replaced and that's about it.
Besides, it'd be cheating ![]() Jambo

Cheating scmeating.I am a 36 year old fat bloke racing against 15 and 16 year old kamakazi pilots.I doubt if the latest Ohlins would make a difference.I have taken the shock apart.(have rebuild many rebuildable ones before) I can see the problem with the valving, and will put in thicker oil.The problem is with recharging the Nitrogen without a valve.Someone sugested liquid nitrogen or dry ice, that will expand int a gas.Has antbody tried this.

Wasn't taking it too seriously, I've spoken to enough racers to understand that that what's legal is precisely equal to what you can get away with without being caught
![]() I'm afraid at the part you've taken the shock apart you're well outside what I can offer help with. Using liquid nitrogen sounds a little bodge-tastic, might work but would make the internals brittle during re-assembly which might be bad news for the seal, and guessing the right ammount to give the desired pressure at room temperature as a gas is going to be a bit tricky. That said, I've never done it and wouldn't know what I was doing if I did. So I wish you the very best of luck, and hope someone better suited than me turns up. May be worth PM'ing Rob#70 as he's probably the most likely to know. Jambo
