Default The age difference thread.

As not to derail the tattooed idiots thread anymore, it was noticed that a certain member was being flamed for having a younger girlfriend.
What's the big hoohah over it?
There's a 4 year difference between myself and my OH does that meake me a bad person?
Or because i'm 39 it's ok? Hypocritical or do people have valid reasons to give him grief over it?

Discuss!!

I disagree with it - personally the thought of going near anyone younger than 17 makes me wince. I think age differences are fine if your both adults but well dodgy otherwise.

you know what, i mentioned it on another thread in my usual tongue in cheek fashion, but i dont think it's a good idea to single anybody out and have a thread which has every chance is could be retitled TNT....

i really dont want anybody feeling ostrich sized because our views on his situation may anger/annoy/enrage....

I for one have always had a thing for older chaps. It is certainly more acceptable now that i am a little older that it was when i was younger. All within the law i might add! but i can understand why it looks odd when girls are younger and the guys are older - friends and parents are protective. Makes sense

* i havent read the other thread

39 and 35 absolutely fine.

An 18 year old enjoying spending time with a 14 year old, fair enough

An 18 year old having sexual relations with a 14 year old would be pretty wrong IMO (not to mention illegal). A couple of years time when she is 16 and the guy is 20, fair enough.

This is all hypothetical and I don't know who we're talking about though

Well considering that if she sends him a "naughty picture" from her mobile tomorrow, he's bang to rights on a Child Pornography charge,

The law defines anyone under 16 as a Child (it not THAT black and white - legal responsibility differs with gender) and anyone over that age is an adult.

We are also talking about a difference that is more than 25% of HER total life-span.

Its not the actual age difference as such, its the fact that she's a child.

Now if he was 21 and she was 17 - no harm, no foul.......

Oh and yes, I know that the 16 thing IS just an arbirtary line in the sand, and that in historical times, girls of 14 got married off to much older guys, but its the world we live in today that matters.

Or maybe we are just reading too much into what it means to be someone's Girlfriend these days......

How do you mean sexual relations? Do you mean just sleeping with or any activity?
16 and 20 would still be a little iffy for me to be honest. (no offence anyone)

No valid reason whatsoever to give a rollocking, it's their business?

I have a missus that is 2 and a bit years younger than me, she was 15 when we first got together, I think...

Cannot really comment as there is only 8 months between me and the wife.

However, the lad when he was 18 told us his girlfriend was 16, we only found out she was 15, 6 months after they had been going out and she staying over etc. Boy did he get a rollocking from me, Lynne gave her one for lying to us etc.
