Default Taxing a bike.

I need to tax the bike this weekend.
I have the slip part of the v5, mot and insurance cert.

Will I be able to tax the bike if I only have the new keepers slip?
I have only just got the bike and obviously the v5 has been sent to change the keepers details but still need to get tax.

Any ideas?

Has the prev. owner or you got the tax reminder letter?

If you have the long ref code then you can do it online. Good to know if you don't have your ins or MOT docs to hand as it just checks the database.

Otherwise, I'm not too sure.

If I do it online with the reminder letter wont the tax be sent to his house as the reference number will be linked to him and not me.

I'd prefer to tax it over the counter so I can use the bike this weekend too without the "failure to display" threat..

V5 new keepers supplement will be fine as long as it's not more than a month or two since you got the bike. DON'T use the online service until you have a complete V5.

I've taxed a bike with just the new keepers slip, as long as you have MOT and insurance and either the V5 or the new owners slip, everything is fine.
