Default Puncture Kit

Which puncture kit do people recommend? Think I`d best get one but not sure whether to go with the plug and gas type or the foamy type stuff?

Many thanks

Send a PM over to Kilted Ginger as he tried both on the Applecross Double Dash rideout last month.

Claire

Go for plugs or string, not the foam. I tried the foam a few years ago on north/south v1.0, it was crap - just made a bloody mess of the rear wheel, swingarm and Fizz's helmet. Also did not keep the air in the tyre, which was a little bit inconvenient 300 miles from home

I then plugged it using a 'rep & air' kit - worked a treat.

HTH

Where do you get these things?
And what brand do you reccommend if any?

Ive got a plug repair kit, but never had to use it. Imagine the plug kits give a better temp repair, but the foam/gunk cans quicker to use.

The plug was a piece of piddle to use, and got me 300 miles home on a tyre that was well past it's 'best before' date - I was taking the p*ss a bit, and should have changed it before the trip.....

The foam got me about 20 miles, and was p!issing out everwhere - I now always keep a plug kit with me at all times on the bike.
