Default ticking noise as the bike is being wheeled around.

Hi there,

Was wheeling my bike back into my motorbike shed and i heard a ticking noise and i'm pretty sure it was my rear wheel bearings gone. I had my cush drive off when i had a new tyre put on and the bearing looked shot but i greased it up hoping it would fix it but it's gone now i think.

Is there any other possiblity its something else?

That's usually an indicator the sprocket is reaching the end of its days.
Does the chain adjust up ok? and also how far can you pull the chain away from the sprocket?

face the rear sprocket and go to the 3 0'clock position on it. Can you pull the chain far enough away from the sprocket to see daylight through the gap?

If you already know the rear wheel bearing is shot I reckon thats likely to be your problem. It needs fixing so Id start there.

Okay. Anything i can do about it? Don't really want to have to replace a disc?

Only cleaned the back brake 6 months ago and added braided lines too. Grrr.

You prob have checked this but is the chain dry? If the links are stiff you will get all sorts of weird noises when you wheel the bike,
