Default Curvy Backend? What's going on here?

I bought this a while ago, having just prepared myself to get the bodywork sorted after a little trip sideways down the road, (broken collarbone to go with) I'm looking again at the backend...

Was like this when I got it. just wondering what I can do to neaten it up, and indeed why it was butchered so in the first place.

Any ideas/suggestions welcome. Cheers,
Dean.

(Oversize images sorted..)

Looks like previous owner has put aftermarket indis on it and maybe even had a undertray on it then re-fitted that when it came along to selling it...

It's been cut down to "neaten" it up. THe standard ones as I'm sure you'll have seen are rather mahooooosive. Only thing you can do if you don't like it is stick an undertray \ tail tidy on.

You can either make one yourself, have a search on here as there's a template kicking about somewhere - or you can buy one. Again, have a search on here as there's plent of info on it.

Just buy an original snow plough off ebay, usually two a penny. Back to standard and no bodge??
Just a thought

Yeah, I was unsure about just getting hold of an undertray, as I couldnt' work out if the sawing away on the back would affect it's fitting? If the hacking is fairly common, then i'm not too bothered about it, (besides the cost) Although making it look pretty would be a major advantage. I've got to get the tank & RH fairing repaired, so with the paint coming out, i'm getting my new lowers painted up, and if there's an undertray then I'll get that done too...
Decision time: Keep with the blue, or change it to black?...

Looks like it could have had a hig level can and for some reason the owner cut away the snowplough (No need on 99% of cans!)

Cor, that's horrible. You could get in there with a flapwheel and a drill and clean that up easily enough, and tidy the wiring, if you don't want to replace the whole part (they're dirt cheap but it's a little time consuming)
