Hi All
I have an 03 SV650S with 4000 miles. Yesterday whilst out on a long ride after parking up for 10 mins it would not start. The starter motor span over as normal but it sounds like the was no engagement from the starter to the engine. I bump started it no problem, rode another 30 miles or so with no problems and gearbox felt fine. Since then it has started normally 10+ times. Trying to read back on some of the old posts and from talking to people I am thinking it is either broken/worn teeth on the starter clutch/gear which is causing a miss engagement if it just happens to be lined up on the bad tooth (hence starts fine at other times). Any thoughts appreciated. Simon |

It sounds like it. It seems you need to pull the generator cover off and have a gander.
