Hmm good thinking, Can I use the numbers on a ECU I've just been handed to see if its actually got more juice? I've been told its an extra 18bhp I want to dyno test it but I think its exsactly the same tbh.

Lets all get a little more specific:
The 99-02 bikes use an Ignition Control Unit. This affects only the timing of the sparks. It isn't actually a CDI as it doesn't use Capacitor Discharge Ignition as it's firing method, that's a little old hat nowadays. This will not affect the power in any meaningful way, there certainly aren't 99-02 restricted units as it can't affect the engine enough. You can fit an SV400 Ignition Unit to an SV650 which raises the rev limiter, cutting the spark higher up the rev range, though I doubt this is a stunningly good idea for most of us. The K3+ bikes have an Engine Control Unit. This affects Fuel, opening of the secondry butterflies where used, and ignition. There are 33BHP units of these. All others are standard, though you can re-map them to suit your bike better if you've changed the air filter and put on a full exhaust system for instance. Jambo

I didnt notice a difference between that and my original unit during my little play but tbh after the last 2 weeks of stripping the bike down nothing was working as it should everything has now been replaced (this fortnight has cost a fortune), maybe now I'll notice a difference between the 2 units. |

I am pretty sure F8T95771 is the standard ecu and F8T95772 is the restricted ecu for K3 onwards
