Default Suzuki GT 125 (twin)

My neighbour just built a new garage and he had this in the back, its complete. Under a sheet for the last 20 years and he used it a fair few years previously. Said I can have it if I wanted it free!!! Just wondered if they were any good if anybody knows. It needs a fair overhaul as its been sitting in there for two decades. But its reasonable, do we think its a worthy project?

Yeah I might just do it for the fun of an old bike project in the garage.

They're a bit fragile, but they go well for a 125. If it's an early one it may still be L plate legal despite being 16HP. grab it quick before I come looking for it.

This is a coincidence, there's a thread about a two stroke elsewhere on this forum recently, (Grinch maybe?), anyway someone mentioned about crank seals perhaps drying out and thus a loss of primary compression.
Anyway, GT125s were good at doing crank seals without needing 20 years of waiting around.
On the upside a piston ported two stroke is an easy motor to get apart, but being a twin you'll need the crank split and pressed up to replace the centre seals if that's needed.

I didnt realise it was a 2-stroke until squid said so. Definatly then, it'll want an engine strip. Its definatly worth it if its free My dad was given his VFR400 for free, and its cost him £500 to get it back on the road...which is about as much as it was worth in its crash damaged form.

Have a go, its a freebie and if you try and do some / most / all the work yourself, then thats a good learning experiance

if you get it, pics of rebuild please
