In Scotland the "twenty's plenty" scheme has been in force for years, so many residential areas (entire towns is some circumstances) are 20mph limit, and my Uncle who is a taxi driver in one of those towns tells me some of the schools now have a 10mph limit posted (There are plenty of arguments over whether this is enforceable as speedos usually have the first marking at 10mph and perhaps don't register a speed until a little below this)
Never seen a permanent 20mph limit in England, only for road works, loose chippings, etc. Do they exist? |

Most of Portsmouth has gone this way now with almost all side streets and residential roads off any main roads becoming 20's.

OK, so not as widespread as Scotland, but there are a few. Thanks for the replies, I was just curious.
That is much like many of the towns in Scotland now then. |

Yeah I can think of a few around Halifax, Batley and Heckmondwike all 20mph but tbh other than in car parks and camp sites I've never seen any 10mph ones.
